On the roof terrace of the Hotel Riva in Konstanz I am enjoying the last warm rays of the late summer sun and the view of Lake Constance. White sailboats cross between the traditional tour boats that leave from Constance to the flower island of Mainau. In addition to the historic Art Nouveau villa with barred windows and dark tiles opened in mid-2008 a new, modern building with lots of glass and selected design elements. The orientation of the entire hotel to the lake played an important role for owner Peter Kolb. So I already have a perfect view during breakfast from the elevated terrace across the promenade with its plane trees. Only from spa, guests have the adjacent Villa in view.
