Here you can ever run! The Posthotel Achenkirch is actually a huge resort and the spa area covers more than 7,000 square meters. In addition, a private stud farm and an Alpine golf course belongs to the hotel.
We drove the whole night and reach at the Achensee at breakfast time. The sympathetic reception staff send us directly to the cozy restaurant. The kitchen team led by Fabian Leinich provides culinary highlights around the clock and is awarded for many years with the hood of the GaultMillau.
Luxurious suites with spa
After breakfast, our room at the Posthotel Achenkirch is ready and we check in into a comfortable Junior Suite. The 55-square-meter suite comes up with a huge bed and s a spacious living area with comfortable armchairs and a loggia – all in the Tuscan-style style!
Another highlight is the 15 square meters large bathroom with large mirrors, a Japanese bath and a walk in shower – just a dream!
Our first destination is the stud of the owner. Senior partner Karl Reiter bought his first horses in 1975, later he got Lipizzaner horses from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Today the stud is with 40 molds one of the largest private Lipizzaner breeds in Europe. I book a ride with one of the noble white horses for the next day. As I experienced the first gallop on the Alm, you read here Lipizzaner-Ritt am Achensee.
Posthotel Achenkirchs’s spa area on 7,000 sqm
In the afternoon we explore the dreamlike spa – certainly the highlight of the hotel. First, I swim a few laps in the spacious outdoor pool, then I relax in one of the saltwater pools and enjoy the beneficial effect – with panoramic views of the Karwendel Mountains.
As the sun slowly sets behind the mountain peaks and so I visit the sauna area. For the first round I choose the 90 degree hot log sauna next to the yin-yang pool. Then I tried the Tyrolean sauna, here you can relax with pleasant 59 degrees.
The most beautiful area is the “Sunken Temple”, which lies in the depths of the mountain under the hotel. A narrow corridor leads to the mysterious realm with dragon and temple saunas, ice fountains and a Kneipp path. Here you can relax in very cozy cuddle nests with a starry sky and lounge music and unwind within minutes from the daily grind.
The Post Hotel offers even more: In the Atrium Spa on over 1,000 square meters beauty and wellness is a top priority.
There are 18 cabins, six bathrooms, two rooms with floating couches and a hammam, guests can choose from traditional massages and facials, Ayurveda or applications of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Regular yoga weekends are held each year and also a Shaolin Master is at the hotel for six months and takes guests into the consciousness of Zen. Throughout the year, tennis and squash can be played, there is also a large fitness room with modern cardio equipment and a Power Plate. You might want to play a round at the hotel’s Alpine Golf Club.
