Robots work as bartenders at Royal Caribbean ships

Since hitchBOT, the little smiling robot, toured around Germany, many people see the technical innovations from other eyes. The developments at the latest cruise ships of Royal Caribbean International, the Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, are state of the art. On board the so-called smart ships guests may already admire technology innovations, which are not available on land.

Robots work as bartenders at the Bionic Bar
At the Bionic Bar Android-bartender are at work. Guests can order their drinks with a tablet and the bartenders called b10 and N1C will start. They mix Caipirinhas and shake Martinis – to the amusement of the astonished guests.

Roboscreens dance and twist
Robots control onboard also the multi-level entertainment area Two70°. During the shows the six Roboscreens (100-inch LED-screens) swing up, dance and twist individually or combine to form a whole. The dancing screens have an impressive resolution of 12,000 pixels with 12k-technology.

Virtual balconies in inside cabins
Guests in the inside cabins now enjoy a view outside over a virtual balcony. They can see immediately what the weather is like, what clothes are accordingly the best or – in the case cruises overseas with jetlag risk – whether it is day or night. The images are projected in real time from Red Epic cameras to screens in the cabin. The technological innovations of the Quantum class will be gradually rolled out to the other ships in the fleet.
