Approximately after a four to five hours bus drive from Saigon you will reach the small village Mui Ne at a ten kilometer long dream beach. Only 15 years ago it was a sleepy fishing village, today there are numerous beach resorts. We arrived by bus and check in at Shades Resort. The small, white house is located between the coastal road and the beach and offers a handful of spacious apartments with kitchenette, a swimming pool and a large sun terrace on the beach.
Early in the morning we jump into the sea and do a few laps before we have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. There is a small buffet – a perfect start to the day.
Mui Ne – Top spot for kite surfers
We enjoy the morning on the beach. The hotel has a large terrace with sun loungers and comfortable chairs, there is a little shade from a huge palm tree.
A few hundred meters away there are a lot of kites, since Mui Ne is famous for its breeze and numerous kite surfers race across the water.
Picturesque dunes and a fairy stream
In the afternoon we made a trip by motorbike. Among the top attractions of the region there are the large dunes, but also the fairy stream is worth a detour.
In a few minutes by scooter we reach the red dunes. You can hire a small plastic slide for a downhill adventure, we rather walk through the stunning desert landscape.
On the way back we stop at the fairy stream and walk through rugged dunes that rise left and right of the river. At the end there is a small waterfall.
In the evening we return to the Shades and walk the kilometer-long main road to the south. Numerous restaurants and bars offer cheap cocktails at happy hour, fresh fish is served in the simple fish restaurants by the sea. Here the freshly caught fish is prepared and presented. Those who prefer chic always find a seat in one of the numerous restaurants.
