Very early in the morning the longtailboat “Zeavola” rattle on the beach of Tonsai Village. The lively place on the Thai island Koh Phi Phi is full of guesthouses, restaurants and dive shops – there is always something going on – day and night! The nice Thai guy waves from the boat and we get in. He starts the engine and we drive around the steep cliffs heading to the north of the island.
Far away from the party location the five-star boutique resort Zevaola is offering silence and relaxation at the sandy Laem Tong Beach. The 53 garden villas were designed in teak wood and exude the charm of a traditional island home. Most villas are located in the huge and lush tropical garden, some are higher on the hillside and offering fantastic sea views.

Open garden villas
We cross the wooden entrance gate of our garden villa, pull off our shoes and stand in the open, but roofed living room. In the background we hear the exotic birds and crickets chirping – we live in the midst of nature! The vanity is outside, as well as the tropical shower.
But there is still a conditioned space with a bathroom.
The highlight is the master bedroom, which is equipped with big glass doors, so that we also have a superb view across the tropical greenery from our bed.
A lovingly folded towel elephant greets us warmly.
After a shower it is time for breakfast. The selection is fantastic and I try a Maharaja breakfast in the restaurant “Baxil”. In addition to typical Thai breakfast like the Khao Tom soup they offer also American Breakfast and even the Indian specialties.
Amazing beach and great activities
The rest of the day we relax at the large beach, swim in the sea and in the huge pool in the garden of Zeavola. Every now and then a longtailboot rattles out to sea for a snorkel trip. We have booked a tour for tomorrow morning.

Even before 8 a.m. we go at the Diving Center of Zeavola. Snorkeling equipment is available on site and we hop in our long tail boat. We have a guide for a whole day, who will show the most beautiful places around the Phi Phi islands.
Our first stop is the well-frequented dream beach of Maya Bay – known from the movie “The Beach”. It is best to come early in the morning before the big speedboats from Phuket stop in the small bay. We’re lucky, enjoying the serenity at the beautiful beach and then sail further to other fantastic snorkelling spots, such as Bamboo or Monkey Island.
After a long day with lots of sun bath and some nice swims in the warm sea we rattle back to Zeavola. It has become windy and tonight we have a candlelight dinner on the beach. The candles were lit already around the table and the white ceiling is fluttering in the wind. The chefs at the resort serve their finest seafood and wonderful wines – what could be more romantic?
